We need to get netting on our deck so that no one else falls through the railings.
Last year around this time my (then) 4 year old fell through the railings. I was standing right there. Scary as all hell. She had a couple of bruises, but was fine. She fell about four feet.
Now I have my 15 month old out there a lot and it's making me nuts. We HAVE to get some netting out there.
We need 78 linear feet of it - 234 square feet. What's the best source for deck netting? Just go ahead and buy the pre-packaged stuff? Or does anyone know of a source of bulk netting that I could cut into strips and tie on?
I'm going to lose my mind if we don't get it taken care of soon.

I have no expierence but I looked it up and it seems really expensive. How high does it need to be? I was thinking maybe you could get some Poultry netting (http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&langId=-1&catalogId=10053&productId=100384028) instead but it is only 3 feet high. It'll probably work though if your rail is 5 feet or so. You would need to get 3 of them.

3 feet would do it, but I'm not sure I want plastic. I worry that it won't stand up to getting pushed on like nylon netting would, but I might mention it to my hubby. Even though the aesthetic element isn't the MOST important, I would like it to look nice!

I've been looking at net companies, but they don't seem to sell the nets in bulk really...although if I bought a 12x20 backstop net and cut it up it would only cost about $100.

i Have some that I used to rope off our patio so B doesn't escape and it is really strong plastic, not soft by any means.

I was more worried about it getting brittle...but I might go look at it at Home Depot and see what I think!!!

Oh...my...goodness. I just read the reviews on the fencing and someone used it to keep SNAKES OUT!!!
(Just can't get away from snake references today!)

It says it won't rust or corrode and so far it hasn't. But I agree, check out home depot. they might even have something else that could work that you like better. that deck netting is way overpriced.

This is what we just put up and I am very pleased with it. Very strong.

I just did this myself the other day. I went to Lowe's where the keep the chickenwire, and got some black plastic netting and attached it with a staple-gun. It is barely visible and highly functional. It was maybe 8 bucks for a 25 ft roll.

I have seen chicken wire used. It isn't pretty but, I guess it works and is cheep.

I've seen people use wood lattice too.
