DD recently grew out of the little girl sizes and is in an 8 now. It is a whole different world out there once you grow out of 6x! Goodness! I do a good bit of shopping at Khols, Target, TJ Maxx etc... Yeh, I'm cheap.

I am a bit out of loop as to what is "cool" these days and what is not- I grew up in the years of over priced Benneton, Guess and ESPRIT, and no, I never bought or desired to own such clothes but I am curious as to how things are now.
Are clothes from Target looked down on by teenagers? What are THE name brands kids want? What about Walmart clothes? How about the Mary Kate n Ashley stuff (the little I looked at the other day was kinda ugly, LOL!) or all the Hannah Montana stuff... SO many questions... so out of the loop!

My dd is in a 7 or 8,depending on the store and fit, obviously. If it says Hanna Montana, it's instantly cool. I don't let her wear short shorts or skirts, or shirts that expose her navel when she lifts her arms, but other than that I'm open to much of anything. I love the style with the extra long shirts and leggins under that. It reminds me of the 80's, but differently, lol. Dd wears stuff like that. She really doesn't care about "brands" as yet though. Unless it's a HM like I said, lol.

And we shop at the same places, lol.

So, as far as the Hannah Montana stuff goes... there is no difference between the stuff at Walmart and the stuff elsewhere?

Not that dd or I can tell! Maybe someone else can chime in.

I haven't a clue about what's in yet. I still search for "little girl" looking clothing. DD is 5.5 but she is tall and in a 7 in a lot of things this summer.

My 6yr old almost 7 wears old navy and gap. She has some gymboree stuff.
I dont buy character clothing. My dd1 doesnt ask for HM clothing. As far as brands go she doesnt care about brands. I think she is to young to care.

She did say she wants sketchers when she starts school again. I asked why and she sd because the tv said that they were cool.

Hannah Montana, Old Navy, Gap, Limited Too, Bobby Jack is pretty popular right now also. Then of course Aeropostale, American Eagle, and things like that.

IDK----I don't have tons to spend on their clothes, so my girls don't get expensive brands. I think they can still dress trendy, but thrifty. ;)

We don't really do trendy.

I buy some clothes in the sale section of Land's End. I buy other stuff at Target- although that's getting challenging, as my 8 year old DD is now wearing size tens. And I'm not comfortable with her dressing like Britney Spears.

So what I do is go shopping WITHOUT DD. I pick stuff out for her and then bring it home as a surprise. She gets excited, and we don't argue about whether she should or shouldn't be wearing miniskirts or tiny shorts or whatever. Actually, our real conflict is that she would like to dress like a fairy princess every day, but what she wants to do all day is tomboy stuff. And she doesn't want to get her fairy princess wear dirty or torn.

So I go buy her jeans and shorts and T shirts, skorts and the like. Which she just isn't interested in the store, but is what she really wants to wear. And then once or twice a year, I take her to a store and let her pick out whichever fancy dresses catch her eye.
