View Full Version : Won't stop making milk!
My son has been weaned for over three weeks now. I'm still making milk, and my breasts (especially my left) are so sore and lumpy. They aren't feverish, and if I massage them, I can get milk out, and the lumpiness reduces, but a few hours later it's back. Then I'm right back where I started. I don't know what to do to get the milk to stop. I weaned slowly, I don't know why the milk won't stop. I knew I could have milk for a while, but I didn't think it would keep up at this rate. While I was weaning, I could tell the rate was reducing, some mornings towards the end, I couldn't even feel my milk come in at all while he was feeding. My breast hurt so much, I'm afraid it's going to turn into an infection soon!
Any suggestions?

The only thing that I know that works is to try cabbage leaves. It drys up the milk rather quickly too.

Yeah cabbage leaves worked for me too and the coolness of them helps with the swollen hot feeling too.

I used the cabbage and it seems to have helped. I'm still a little sore, but the lumpiness is almost all gone. THanks for y'alls help!

I have the same problem with the lumpiness and pain after weaning. This may sound like a silly question, but I have never heard of the cabbage thing. What do I do with the cabbage?
Put the leaves straight from the fridge in your bra. When the leaf gets wilted, replace it. Keep doing that until the pain, etc. is gone. I couldn't believe how quickly it worked.
