I have 2, a Regent and a Roundabout. I am going to move Alana from her Roundabout to the Regent now. The baby is almost 20 lbs. and I don't have enough money to buy him a new seat. Alana's Roundabout has flowers on its cover is there anywhere I can buy another for cheap. I looked on Ebay and there is not many. I am thinking about just letting him sit in it, its only a carseat. My fiance says I will scar him for life. I told him whatever its just a seat. I would like to get a more girly one for our regent for Alana but they just might have to deal with what they have, the regent has a brown cover.

Take the cover off and sew a "boy" design over the top of it.

I am surprised the baby is so big already. He will be 10 months June 30 and he is 19 lbs. 3 oz. and 28 inches.

No, don't do that. It's not safe to add any additional layers to the seat.

I would not do that, I have read up here plenty of times to not add anything to the carseat. I saw plenty of seat covers people made on ebay but I did not know if its safe to trust them. I wish I would have saved Andrews seat cover to his that he had but I did not.

No, it's not. For one, they are probably not flame-retardant. You also don't know how well they actually fit the seat and if the strap slots line up with the ones in the seat shell.

Remember, seats expire after six years but covers never do. You can safely buy a used cover.

ok, thanks. I am hoping to find one that is not too much money but like I said I might just keep him in the flower seat cover for now. I bought these seats in 2006 so they still have 4 years left to use them.

Do you know anyone with a girl and a plain Roundabout who might want to swap covers? That wouldn't cost you anything except maybe shipping.

No, but I guess I could post asking if anyone has one on a couple of boards.

I could be wrong but I think it would be cheaper to remake my carseats over with new accesories(belts, seatcovers, etc) instead of buying a whole new seat. The one Andrew had, the regent has mildew on it from sitting in storage.

Wow, I'm glad you said something. Thanks. I learn something new everyday.

Maybe. But Britax seats and accessories are very expensive. It would most likely be cheaper to simply buy a less expensive seat than to buy a Britax cover and harness.

If the Regent has mildew, you definitely need to replace that harness. It would probably be best to replace the cover, but that's a health issue (breathing mildew) and not necessarily a safety issue.

He's an infant. He eats, sleeps, smiles, shits and screams. Use the carseat cover you have. There are more important things to worry about.

Personally, I would just use the cover you have. But, then again, I see no problem with boys and flowers...

What about Rit Dye ? Would that negate the fire protectant ? Tie Dye it, faux camo, all indigo blue ? Or what about hitting it with some bleach to wash it out ?

As you would have read, the seat his sister has to move in has mold, mildew on it from being in my parents storage. So I am going to have to replace its cover or just buy him a newer seat.

What other seats would you suggest chick, I know Wal Mart has 2 that are $48 each but they look cheap looking to me.

Karen, all seats are tested to the same safety standards. If you don't want a seat because it "looks cheap", that's a personal preference, but it's not a safety issue. For your youngest, KMart has Cosco Sceneras on sale for $35 this week and (some) Big Lots has Safety 1st Uptown seats for $60. Those both rear-face to 35 pounds, which make them a very good choice for a baby.

What is Alana's age, height, and weight?

I wouldn't get rid of a good Britax frame--I think the new cover swap is a good idea.

Alana is still small for her age. She just turned 3 and is 25 lbs and 35 inches. I probably will leave her in the RA and get the baby a cheaper seat.
