I need one quick for my dad! He has been watching my kids for 10 hour shifts once a week. I want to get him something nice or special and I am drawing a blank, completely. He drinks but it not really into fancy beers. I could get him wine but have no idea what. He has a small apartment so he doesn't have room for too much stuff.
He does like to cook a lot.
I am not good with clothing and him, I would get the wrong thing or style most definately.

Is there a place close that gives cooking classes? you could get him a couple of classes.
I like to cook and really like going to those.

I have no idea. Maybe I will just go with dh's idea of micro fiber clothes to wash his vette. Blah.

~gift certificate for a favorite restaurant?
~mag subscription to a gourmet cooking mag?
~new cookbook?
~is there something he does regularly that you could pay his entry fee? we have always paid for FIL's hunting license, as a gift. last year we bought the ILs' season pass to the high school ball games

Well, it's too late now, but I would have suggested a nice home-cooked dinner. I made my dh (the wonderful father of our three kids and the awesome PawPaw to our grandkids) chicken & dumplings, mashed potatoes, a loaf of bread & fried Brussels sprouts for lunch. I finished it off with a frozen strawberry loaf for dessert ~
He's still smiling :)
