A friend called today and asked if I could look on the internet for any assisted living homes for people with bipolar and other illnesses. They do not have internet.

Her brother has been institutions in since he was 7. Then in prison. He is now out of prison and off probation and all the help he had from the goverment is gone. He has just been kicked out of his apartment.

She said they need someone to be the trustee of his ss check and pretty much tell him what to do. He has always been told his whole life to take his meds, when to get up and etc.
I have no idea where to look. So if anyone can point me in the right direction that would be wonderful.

We are in GA if that helps.

:bump:

Has she made any calls to social services? Would he qualify for any programs that way?

I know finding longer-term help like that is really difficult, and I'm hoping that works out for you. The National Alliance on Mental Illness is a support and advocacy group made up mostly of family members of people with problems like bipolar. Hopefully there is a chapter near you that has ideas on what's available....
