Almost every time I eat, I feel sick (bad indigestion and sometimes diarrhea). Why does my body feel like Coke or Pepsi will help? I'm not even sure that it helps, but I always want it when I'm feeling this way.

makes sense.
According to Wiki
"Emetrol is the brand name of an over-the-counter antiemetic medicine taken to relieve nausea and vomiting. It is a mixture of glucose, fructose, and phosphoric acid, and comes in syrup form."
I think coke and pepsi are made of the same stuff, pretty much.
although I prefer Dr. Pepper, since it has the degree and all.

When growing up and my friend would get an upset stomach her father always told her to drink coke.He was a pharmacist so maybe he knew about the emetrol and coke similarites.

The thing is that I'm allergic to yeast, and I think that's what's causing my problems. I've reduced my yeast intake, but I haven't been able to cut it out completely. On the list of things I'm not supposed to have are sugars, so I'm not sure if this is helping or harming. Of course, there may be issues beyond yeast as well.

There is nothing like a carbonated pop to make the tummy feel better. (Best hangover cure, EVER.) I think it's the effervesence, but that's just a guess. All I know is it works miracles.

My sil, a nurse, recommends Coke to ease stomach upset. It works for me.

The only time I buy coke is when someone is sick. I use it for the sore throat and puking too.

Soda settles my stomach too.
But, the caffine can irritate my belly worse
- I try to go for a clear seltzer or similar if I want it to settle my stomcahe
( dr.pepper, If i am spoiling myself instead :) )

I don't like the taste of the clear ones; I wish I did.
Dh has gone to the store to get me some Coke or Pepsi--whichever is cheaper--and a few other things.

I drink Peppermint tea and it helps me. For some reason it just calms my tummy when it gets all messed up.

Have you ever tried the caffiene free coke? It's not diet. I actually find it better than regular coke.
Ginger-ale is good also.

My mom used to give my Coca-Cola syrup when my stomach was upset when I was little. She bought it at the pharmacy OTC. I guess it's the concentrate before the carbonated water is added.

You can buy cola syrup in the pharmacy section. It does wonders, that cherry flavored emetrol actually makes me puke (which was a huge diappointement when you're trying not to).
Coke is the best when it comes to kicking nausuea (it's the syrup).
