Hello, My Son Is Now 8 Weeks Old. I Am Not Quite Sure What He Weighs Because He Hasn't Has His 2 Month Checkup Yet But At 5wks And 5 DayS He Was 10lbs 12oz And At Birth He Was 8lbs 11oz. My Problem Is This: I Am Only Able To Get A Decent Supply Of Milk From My Left Breast. When I Pump I Am Able To Get At Least 3oz If I Go Every 3 Hours But My Right One Only Gives About 1/4oz If That. Its Too The Point That Most Of The Time I Don't Bother With It At All. When I Nurse, He Takes The Left Breast Just Fine But Latches On To The Right One And Gets Off Almost Immediately Because Nothing Comes Out. I Am Giving Him Around 6-8oz Of Formula A Day In Addition To The Breastmilk Just To Be Sure He Is Getting Enough. I Have Tried The Tea And The Fenugrek But Haven't Seen Much Change. I Have An Evenflo Pump But Have Read That The Medela Is Better. How Much Of A Difference Do You Think It Would Make If I Switched Pumps? I Don't Want To Spend $200 For Nothing. Do You Think That He Is Getting Enough From The One Breast Alone? When I Am At Home And Able To Feed Directly From The Breast He Will Eat At Least Every 2-3 Hrs If Not More But Only From The Left Side.

Babies can get plenty of milk from just one breast if the supply is good. 3 oz every three hours would be about 24 oz and that's a good amount of milk. His weight gain is fine based on the two weights you gave me, but we need to know a recent weight to be sure. Which Evenflo pump do you have?

It is the evenflo comfort select. I'm willing to try the medela if it could help me get more milk from my right breast. I usually pump about 3 times a day from work but he is probably eating about 4-5 bags of stored milk a day so my daycare stash is not equaling out.

If you switch to a hospital grade rental pump for one month you may increase your supply enough. Is there a place to rent one in your area?

I am not sure...I'll have to check that out. I also had an issue with his pooing. At the beginning of this breastfeeding journey he was pooping several times a day and it was the yellow seedy stuff but now even when he gets breastmilk all day, he sometimes won't poop. He always always has plenty of heavy wet diapers but when he does poop it is green. I started noticing that when I started the fenugreek but even though I am not taking it anymore, he still poops green.

Oftentimes a 6+week old baby will only poop every 10 days to 3 weeks!!!

oh good!! I was so worried that something was wrong with my milk. Its so annoying because my son loves the breast and before I went back to work he was constantly on there. Of course my country bumpkin mother in law swears he's not being satisfied and telling me I need to give him rice and my husband is telling me that I am starving him because he wants to be on the boob all the time. I just feel so insecure about my milk supply that I do often second guess my desire to BF. All I want is a healthy baby!

It sounds like you have a beautiful very happy and healthy baby who knows that breast is best!!! You are doing a wonderful job. What does your gut feeling tell you about your baby? Mother knows best (not mother-in-law!)
