I have a few questions. All of this is new to me. I started back to work about 5 weeks ago and I have not been able to keep up with the demands of my little girls eating habits. She weighted 9lbs 5oz when she was born 2/21 and now she weights around 13lbs 5oz. While I was home with her the first 3 months, I fed her on demand. Now that I am back to work and pumping I don't seem to get more than 3 ounces at a time. I feed her in the morning before I leave for work at 6a.m. and when I get home at around 6p.m. I then pump around noon and then again at 3p.m. Sometimes at noon I get 4-5 ounces but i really have to work to get it by using compression. Should I be pumping a third session in the morning? I don't have any frozen stash left either. I try to send 3-4 4ounce bottles with her during the day..sometimes she eats just 3 and sometimes she eats all 4. I have been taking 3-4fenugreek tablets 3-4 times a day to increase my supply and it has seemed to help some, but do I need to take it all the time? Also should I be pumping on the weekends? When I have pumped on the weekends I only get about and ounce or less each time. Thanks for your help!!!

I find that many babies just plain eat too much when at daycare because they are use to formula babies. I would suggest asking them to s..l..o..w...down the bottle feeding to take 20 minutes. Many breastfeeding babies only need/want 2.5-3 ounces per feeding if they don't gulp it down. For great info on pumping and working go to my website www.the newbornbaby.com and click on pumping and working. 3 ounces per pumping session is very normal. You're doing a fabulous job. Good for you continuing to breastfeed and work. Wonderful!!
