View Full Version : Very Faint Lines on Hpt's

I am 4 days late and have 4 pregnancy test with very faint positive lines. I have taken one a day since the 18th. They are not getting any darker though. I don't know if I should take it that I am pregnant or not. Should they be getting darker by the day? With my other children I had immediate results and these tests are taking at least 2-3 minutes to show.
I'm really scared because I had an x-ray a couple of weeks ago on my back.
I would be 5 weeks along calculating from the first day of last period. I'm just a nervous wreck. We have been TTC for a while. I also wanted to mention I took one on the 17th and it was a definite negative. I can't get to the dr. for a couple of weeks. I'm so nervous.
ETA: I've had perfect 30 day cycles for 6 months. Never late AF's.

You are pregnant, congrats! The lines don't necessarily get darker. In fact, I have had them get fainter and still be pregnant. If you are still unsure, go get a digital pregnant/not pregnant test. But I believe congrats are in order :)

Oh and I wouldn't worry about the x-ray. You are what 14-16 dpo? Had you even ovulated when you had that x-ray.

most likely pregnant, I would follow up with your doc and get a blood test if you are still unsure.

I was thinking this same thing.
Congrats on the pregnancy!

That's pregnant, honey. It doesn't matter how dark the line is, it's testing for a hormone that doesn't appear unless you are pregnant. (Okay, there are a very FEW exceptions to that- but if you such an exception, you'd likely know it already.)

Mine were very faint with my last pregnancy. They won't necessarily get darker. Sometimes, it's the test, and not your hormones, that make the line more faint (from what I've read).
I wouldn't worry about the X-ray. I had one when I was very VERY early in my last pregnancy, so I looked it up. There's not enough radiation in most xrays to be a cause for concern.
Congrats!

I took one of those clear blue digital tests last night and it said "pregnant"!! I am so happy I know for sure now. I was thinking something was wrong with my hcg level or something. Thanks for all the input, especially on the x-rays. I can finally get some rest now.

Congratulations! I had full body x-rays done after a bad car accident when I was 10 weeks pregnant with my DS. My OB wasn't worried about it at all and everything turned out just fine! :)
