DS has been on solids for a little over a month. I give him one "meal" per day, usually about 4-6 oz. after he's nursed. I started with 1-2 oz. but he still really wanted more.
When do you start feeding them more times per day? I absolutely do not want him to wean but in the 14 month thread she mentioned that he was maybe weaning. Assuming that he nursed less, he must be eating more solids. So when do you increase solids?
When does it go to three meals per day plus nursing instead of 12 nurses per day plus one solid meal?

IMO, 4-6 ounces is a lot of food at once, depending on the age of the babe. How old is DS?

7.5 months I know, it is a lot, but he really seems to want that much. It's usually more like four ounces but he'll eat six if we let him.

What consistency of food are you giving him?

A little thicker than stage two. I make his food so I just use a food processor or blender. Similar to that of grits? That's the only thing that I can think of to compare it to.

Both of my boys didn't even get them daily until they were over 9 months. They just weren't interested. That was fine with me since they were getting everything they needed from breastmilk.

It's more food than *I* would be comfortable giving in one sitting, at that age. I'd probably stop at the 2 ounces and offer the breast again, personally. Or, do another 'meal' somewhere else, with 1-2 ounces of solids.
But, it all boils down to how much babe is nursing, really. If he's not cutting back on nursing, then one can assume all is well. If he's getting so much solids that he doesn't want to nurse as much, I'd certainly cut them back.
Much like a babe NOT having solids at that age, as long as they're nursing and making the diapers, all is well.

Do you also offer a water with the food?

I offer it out of a sippy but he hasn't quite mastered the sippy yet. He just wants to chew on it.

Shay didn't start three meals a day until he was a year, and he was FF, and most people wait longer with BF babies than with FF.

6 oz. is a LOT of solid food for a 7-month-old to be getting. That's an adult-sized portion. At this age, no more than an ounce at a time, a few times a day. Just because he wants it doesn't mean you need to give it to him. If the rate of solid food intake continues at this rate, he may well be weaned by a year.

I'm pretty confident that he won't be weaning any time soon. I won't be increasing the number of meals per day for a while. At this time he is still nursing eight times daily.
