Until yesterday we had a woman working in the club house of the community I live in that was the association connection on site. We have a nice pool complex that includes a couple of those big water slides, water park style. They have been nothing but a PIA.
The law says that in order to operate them you have to have one person on top of the slide and one at the bottom as monitors. So in the beginning they were open any time she was in the office and two people would volunteer. That didn't work out because the two volunteers would never keep at it and she would always find it unmanned. This issue with this being, that if an inspector came by they would shut the whole pool down for the season.
SO now this lady doesn't work here, the slides have been off, but some residents have taken it upon themselves to break into them and get them running, and then kids are climbing the gates and using them anyway.
Today driving out of the neighborhood I notice a bunch of kids climbing the gate and the stairs for the slides and I know they weren't supposed to be running.
Would you take it upon yourself to go tell a bunch of strange kids to stay off, it it meant potential loss of the facility for the whole community, and costly repairs that come out of our association?
I hate the idea of policing neighbors, but I don't think most of them understand the risk of using them this way. I also don't want to be the bad guy to the neighbors.
I do only because knowing we were loosing this woman I met with the association reps and got a handle on some things that would need to be monitored and taken care of on site.

I would imagine that using the slides unmanned could be very dangerous. Can you have an association meeting and put together some kind of volunteer schedule with the safety of all the kiddos in mind. Or figure a way to post signs with a warning, at least that way the message is out there, and you have done what you can.

I'd go with the idea of an association meeting as well. Regs aside, it's a freaking safety issue.

The schedule idea is what I thought we could do but people walk away and leave it open, even when they agree to stand there. It's an liability issue and a operating issue, we would loose our certificate to operate if it is inspected while this is happening. There is also the issue of who on site could have keys. There are signs on them stating the law and they are climbing on chairs to get into the stairs for them, as the gates are locked, so yes it's dangerous and obvious that they aren't suppose to be on them. They aren't usually on, but someone apparently knows how to force them on.

I'd call the police. Also, make sure your association has quite a lot of insurance.
