My son is 8 weeks old. At his Doctors appt a few days ago I was told his bili level was a 7 and although low she thinks it's "breastfeeding jaundance" and wants to "rule it out" by having my stop breastfeeding for 48 hours. If not she said I need to have blood work done on him by taking blood out with a needle though a vain. Im very upset about this. My son is nursing great an growning very well. He was 7-11 at birth and is not 13 1/2 pounds. He poops every day or every other day and seems to be having no problems. He's bili level was a 3 when he left the hospital but it must have peeked around day 7 im guessing because he was pretty yellow in the face and eyes for a week. I myself would really like to give it another week and have him re-tested with just a heel prick.... Am I being stupid about this? Should I stop nursing for 2 days (something im VERY much not for)? What all is known about breastfeeding jaundance? Could this be it and would giving formula really help my son? This all just seems a little to much to me for such a low level. Thanks!!!
