Hi
Sometimes my 4 week ds makes a clicking noise when drinking. Does this mean he's latched on wrong?

It means he looses his suction.

Are you producing plenty of milk and he is gaining at least an ounce a day?

well i know he's gaining weight and he's putting out enough wet diapers. As for the milk I guess I'm producing enought if the above is occurring. I just haven't gotten to the point where I can pump 5-ounces in a sitting.

When you are breastfeeding around the clock I expect you to pump out about 1/4 to 1/2 ounce TOTAL per session!!

That's encouraging. First thing in the morning I get about 3 ozs. In the afternoon about 2 ozs. and at night about 1 ounce. I'm hoping it will increase eventually. It's just so tiring to feed him every hour and pump. Not to mention that I noticed that if he happened to get up quickly from a nap he was not happy because the flow was not as fast as it would normally be had I not pumped.

Tell me your reasons for pumping.

I was doubtful that my supply was low so I went ahead and rented a Lactina.

All babies LOVE to fall asleep at the breast. That is part of breastfeeding--it is very calming and relaxing to him. Sounds like everything is perfect.
