My daughter, who is almost 7 months, is having a really hard time with teething. I started giving her Motrin yesterday, because Tylenol did not seem sufficient. For the past few days, she has been nursing 6 times per day, but she ends or pauses during most sessions after a total of about 8-12 minutes. She seems to be in a lot of pain, even on the medicine. I have tried giving her teething rings, cold washcloths, and even frozen breastmilk in a mesh feeder, but she still pulls away in pain. This afternoon at her last nursing, she only ate for 3 minutes then cried for an additional 20 until I calmed her. I even tried to give her a cold bottle of breastmilk, but she refused. I am beginning to worry that she is not eating enough.

Have you called the doctor? Maybe an ear infection. How has her weight been?

Yes, I called her Dr. yesterday to ask about pain management and he said that some babies have a really difficult time with teething and that I could try Motrin.
Her weight was 12 lbs. 6 oz. at her 6 mth. appt. (3 weeks ago). That's up from 10 lbs. 10 oz. at 4 months. My husband and I weigh her at home (on an adult digital scale) and believe she's between 13-13 1/2 now.

I would feel more comfortable having the doctor check her out to make sure nothing else is going on.
