My mil was gracious enough to show me her zodiac calender the other day so I could see the best days of the month according to the signs and the moon for weaning. I have no plans to wean but let her go on about her business and then thanked her and said basically we'll see.
She's from a farm family and says her daddy always did any bloodletting activity like castrating and dehorning when the moon was in the lower part of the body. Castrating and dehorning?!??! If that's comparable to weaning then no thanks!

Anyone ever heard of this or tried it? Just curious.

I may try and night wean mine but I am still on the fence (and according to the calender I have till the middle of next month to decide ;) ). He doesn't nurse at night most nights so i figure when he does he really needs it.

I've never heard of this, but I'd be fascinated to see a moon weaning calendar and see if it seems that Jack naturally nurses less when the moon is in the lower part of his body.

You know it's funny Jacksmommy but I noticed that the dates for this month were the nights he didn't wake to nurse. That's when I start to think he is night weaning on his own! Then suddenly he starts to wake again.

I am still thinking of weaning Andrew, either at night for now or after he turns 3 if he hasn't already. And I will follow this pattern. It only gives you about a week to do it though so I don't know how it could be complete after only a week. Maybe you're supposed to drop a few sessions every month during the moon cycle. I'm not sure.
