Ease 18 month old's weaning

I must wean my 18 month old now. This is our 3rd attempt, he cries endlessly when he sees me. My mother is watching him and as soon as I try to be with him he cries and hits me and hangs on me and wants to nurse. I feel horrible. What can I do to make this better? My other two weaned easily, so I'm not used to this. He cried all night until 3am, slept two hours then cried again for awhile, slept again then woke up crying. It's just torture. Thanks for any advice you can give!

Awh, that's a tough one that I have been through personally. I would just be kind but firm about no more milk and hold, cuddle, etc. It will take time. You may want to read
