So I want to keep my baby primarily on BM for the next 6 months while introducing foods incredibly slowly due to allergies in the family (no food allergies just severe seasonal allergies and asthma) and a very fussy gut. Does anyone have a "plan" that they've used? I'm so confused on how to start foods...when do you go more than once a day? Right now we started with rice cereal (which most of you probably know 'cause i've posted 8000 questions on this) and he seems to be doing fine. It actually seems totally pointless, he eats a tiny bit and then nurses as much as usual. I generally feed him around mid-day now. Do I then move the cereal to the AM after awhile and then try new foods at mid-day (going really slowly...basically 1 new food per 5-7 days)? I know i've posted a million questions on this so sorry but I haven't been able to find much info out there and you all are great resources and it's important to me to keep nursing. Thanks!

You dont have to keep feeding rice cereal, you could just introduce a new food in place of rice cereal, I introduced a new food every 3 days or so. Carrots, applesause, pears, sweet potatos are some of the first ones I introduced.

Hey, Peanut. I don't really have an answer to your question, just wanted to thank you for asking it. My dd turns 6 months next week, and we are greatly benefiting from your threads! (Everything you ever wanted to know about solids but were afraid to ask....)
I started giving my baby rice cereal three weeks ago because she was starting to complain when DH and I were eating and leaving her out. In retrospect, I think she'd been eyeing our food for maybe a month already, but I was holding out. We've also started carrots. She gets about an ounce of solids each evening. I don't go by amount; I just stop when she wants out of the highchair.
I plan to offer her solids more often once she can feed herself, but until then I think this once a day will work unless she starts complaining again, or unless I hear that she really needs to be spoonfed more often.
