I hope I am posting in the right place, I dont see any other place that would be more appropriate to post.

Shoot! I just went to take my pill tonight and realized that I forgot to take it last night. This is the first time I have done this since I started it at 9 weeks PP. I just started my 3rd pill pack. I looked online and it says that you are not supposed to "double up" pills if you miss a dose? When I was on the regular pill for a while, I always took 2 at the same time If I missed a pill. What I was reading it says not to do this. Now, I am going to be 1 pill/day behind in my entire pack.

What do I do? Nothing? Just keep taking them till they are gone and start over with my next pack next month?

Thanks

ETA: I realize that I will need to use a back up for birth control due to this..and we pull out in addition to the mini pill anyways..but just wanted to clarify for those of you who think I didnt know ;)

I also just called the pharmacist for instructions on what to do and he didnt seem really confident in what to tell me so he told me to call me OB..nice huh..LOL

Take both pills today, and use a backup form of birth control for the rest of this cycle.

If you forget two pills in a row, then you double up for two days. If you forget more than two pills, then you're just supposed to scrap that month, throw the rest away, and start again next month.

Well, I was going to do that but called the OB...they said I could take a pill yest...[which I did] and then take my pill last night like normal, so now I am caught up...BUT...

I started spotting light brown yest[figured it was normal from missing that pill], and now today, I have cramps and my flow is heavier, requiring a tampon. Its like dark red-brown and feels like an AF?

Do you think that missing 1 pill would cause this? I just dont know if this is breakthrough bleeding from missing that one pill or my PPAF? my son is 4 months old today, he BF'ed about every 3-4 during the day and at least ONCE a night sometimes Twice?

I am going to wait and see...if in a few days it doesnt stop or whatever, maybe it really is my PPAF? how will I know for sure? It feels like an AF but the timing really makes me think its from missing the pill?

What do you think? Experiences?

missing the pil may have altered your cycle enough to force your period--it may be a light period, or several days of spotting.

If you are missing these pills or not taking them at the same time of day every day, then you are at risk for pregnancy. consider a change of time of day to see if that helps, or a different form of birth control.

I agree w/ Amy, I did experience pregnancy while on the mini pill. That is why I am using the IUD now:)

I did read that you use the pull out method as well but that wouldn't work in my house as you may be aware that pregnancy can result from pre~seminal fluid.

My guess would be that the mix up with the pill has caused breakthrough bleeding, only time will tell.

Yes, I realize that. We use back up in addition to the mini pill. Missing one pill would force me period even if I havent had a Post Partum period yet? Would this be considered my first PPAF?

Thanks

Only time will tell. mark it on the calendar, see how many days it lasts and see if it returns in about 28 days or not.

Well, I had something similar on 5/17 as well and it lasted for 5 days...but not quite as the same flow as this time, then one day of spotting on 6/19 which I thought was my period coming but it was only one day...and then nothing again until yesterday.

I have a chart with all the info if you want to take a look that would be great:

Follow this link. It states that if you miss a pill you should not drink it, but use a back up method of contraception for the rest of the month. http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/women/contraceptive/632.html
