So Gracie had her 4 month well-baby a couple weeks ago and I had spoken to the doctor about the fact that she spits up very frequently. He didn't have alot of experience with breastfeeding (this was the guy who told me I needed to put cereal in her bottle) so he was at a loss for suggestions other than "watch what you eat and I guess burp her more". Anyway, today I get a fairly large package in the mail and it's a full can of Similac Sensitive (not the sample cans, a full size can) and a brochure from similac that starts off with "Does your baby spit up too much?" and goes on to tout the benefits of new and improved Similac Sensitive which has been proven to reduce spit-up by 54%. My husband is taking it to work to try and pass it off because I hate having that in the house, but it's like a 15 dollar can of formula and $25 in coupons. Is that just a strange coincidence or would the hospital be in contact with the formula company, is that even legal? I've always gotten formula coupons that know my kid's ages, but this was just weird that it seemed directed to the problem I had just explained to my doctor.

The HCP or hospital would be in touch with formula companies. My DCP had to take her own daughter to her HCP and told her doctor about me and my BF problems at the time. Well then I got two regular size cans of enfameal in the mail and I keep getting cupons for the stuf. I passed it off to some one at my church who formula feeds. I know it wasn't from my hospital that I delivered at because they used the Similac.

Hospitals and pediatric clinics do not give out patients' information to formula companies. That would be a horribly blatant violation of HIPAA.

My guess it's a coincidence. Maternity clothing stores do give out customers' information.

I've got like 6 or 7 full cans of formula that has been sitting at my house for 7mo now that was sent to me just after DD was born. I personally think it might have come from registering for a baby shower maybe at target or baby r us...anways I'm not surprised you got it. They sent that stuff out to all mothers if they can get their hands on your information.

I'm still looking for someone to give this stuff away too. I'm happy i've never had to use any of it :)

Check in to local women's shelters, or groups that support teen mothers, or the food bank, if you can't find anyone to give it to.
