My sweet baby is sick. Aside from me and DH oing out of our mind with worry she is doing OK. It is just a bad cold but of course we keep thinkin of every worse case scenerio.
Anyways She had been sleeping through the night since she was 3 months. Now she has been getting up once a night and I nrse her. I know she doesn't feel well and needs a little extra at night
My question is when they feel better will she start sleeping through again? If so how long does it take after?
Even though she is super congested she still latches great and gets good feeding throughout the day

Nursing at night is good for her right now. It helps with the congestion. Will she sleep through the night again once she is well? Maybe. Babies change their sleep patterns as they need to. Right now this is what she needs. I hope she's better soon.

ITA with jacksmommy, she's a wise one. :) The sleep may happen again, it may not.
Hope she's on the mend soon, sugar.

Sleeping through the night is very individual and most babies under one year don't for one reason or another. There are many reasons why: separation anxiety, approaching a new milestone, introduction to solids, teething are all going to interfere with a good night's rest.
A good product to try is www.hylands.com teething tabs, they help calm baby for a restful sleep, the chamomile really helps my little one.
My middle child still wakes at night and she is 4.5. My youngest is 16 months and she has been sleeping through since 4 months except for the occasional moment will she will tolerate just being patted back to sleep.

She has a small ear infection:( I was bummed because I thought exclusivley breastfeeding would prevent that.
The doctor was great and said he wanted to give her body a chance to fight it before we gave her the antibiotics. He wrote me the script and told me if she isn't better in 48 hours to go ahead and give it to her.
I really hate when they are sick.
She i still getting up but I feel she just needs it right now. Truth be told I kinda enjoy those quiet dark nights close with my daughter:)

Awh, I'm sorry your sweetie is sick. It is frustrating that even exclusively BF babies get ear infections,
mine did too
but I assure you, they get a lot less than babies that don't nurse. It is more likely due to the babys' ear anatomy.
Hope your baby is better soon!
P.S. my son slept great, ear infection free til 4 months then whamo, first and only ear infection , hospitalized on pediatric unit, sleep was forever screwed up...but now he is 8 and it all seems so fleeting in the grand scheme of life. I even have to wake him up for school.

I'm sorry, sugar. 'Tis a fallacy that breastfed babies don't get sick though. I know lots of EBF kiddos who seem to be sick a lot and lots of FF kiddos who are never sick, and vice versa. Rest assured, though, that nursing will comfort her.
And woot on your doc for wanting to give babe's body some time to take care of it! Many ear infections are viral and DON'T require antibiotics, but too many HCPs are more apt to just prescribe.
Hope she feels better soon!

Remember, any course of antibiotics should be countered with a course of probiotics to ward off the evil thrush. Thrush is the debil!
