OK i need SPECIFIC directions (b/c i can't grasp it) how to nurse in a padded ring sling.
Trip to the zoo in a month and i can't nurse and walk so figuring this out would be a great help. Dont wanna miss DD seeing the sights!

I posted this when Cecily was a newborn. http://www.breastfeeding.com/forums/showthread.php?t=564
I don't have a padded sling, but it should be the same basic idea. The only modification I'd make to my previous instructions is to pull the sling down to the back of baby's knees, instead of snugging it around his/her bottom as instructed in the original thread. And you'll probably have to still support the baby's head with your arm while nursing, instead of being completely hands-free as I am in the photo (I'm using a doll as a model).

I also find that to walk and nurse at the same, I need to be wearing a nursing top or something that I can pull down from the top. Or, say a tank with a shirt outside of it. I will not have my flab hanging out the bottom of my sling, KWIM?

Oh yea red, my tummy is N-A-S-T-Y so i was planning on getting one of those bravado nursing tanks.
MAYBE i CAN nurse and walk i just haven't for that very reason....

i tried earlier topless and was a bit successful... we'll see. i just don't wanna have to stop everyone to feed him/ miss out w/ DD (& listen to MIL "could've brought a bottle")

I can only nurse DD in the sling if my arm is in the sling with her. Its kinda weird looking, but it works for us. I put my sling on really loose, get DD into the nursing position and latched on, and then I tighten the sling around her/my arm. My arm is in there to support her, but the sling holds all the weight making it super easy. I still do it the same way if I happen to have my sling on hand and we're out and about.

Try putting babe in backwards with feet hanging out, that workes for me. Then if holding my ds, extra fabric covers his head, my breast and most of my side.
