DD has white patches inside her cheeks and on her tongue. (I haven't researched bfing.com to see past threads about thrush, sorry.)

My nipples are not red and/or sore.

She's been nursing out of her usual pattern lately. I attributed that to her newly found skill, crawling (and now walking along things).

DD will be 11 months on the 8th. She's always been an around the clock nurser, every 2-3 hours. Just lately she hasn't been wanting to (a): nurse at all or (b): nurse really good but only on the first side.

I haven't tried to poke around in her mouth too much because of her four new teeth coming in, I know her mouth is already sore from that.

It sounds like it could be thrush. Are you able to easily wipe it off? If it's thrush, it won't come off easily, or if it does come off, it's going to look raw and red underneath.

Even though you don't have any signs/symptoms, if it is thrush, you should both be treated for it. Treatment for you might just be a simple lotrimin cream applied after feedings.

It certainly sounds like it could be, sugar. I didn't know about GSE until this last baby and it really works great. (I also used the lotrimin cream on my nips)

Correct me if I am wrong Kerry: lotrimin cream needs to be applied for a minimum of 14 days while the GSE usually works within 7 days, is this true?

I don't think there's any set time. I always say to continue all treatments until all symptoms have been gone for at least a few days. How long she uses it would depend on what baby gets treated with and how quickly it responds.

Okay, I checked out my nipples when I was done pumping just now. I must be retarded or something. There is reddish funky weird stuff going on, my one nipple looks like it's getting cracked.

I called DD's pedi...but it's her regular ped's day off today. Waiting for a nurse to call back. The white chunky stuff doesn't wipe off and I don't think I should try to scrape some off.

I called my doc and she has no appointments available. There is a male doc that I can see but the nurse will ask my regular doc if (based on our symptoms) I can be prescribed something. I have no shame with bfing but if I don't have to bare my nips to a complete male stranger, then that's even better.

What benefits does GSE do that a prescription cannot? Does GSE work better? Where can you buy GSE? Thanks!
