View Full Version : Fell in the shower...

I slipped and fell in the shower yesterday. I landed with my legs in the W shape. Had a hard time getting out of the tub after that.

Well, I hurt my right inside part of my hip pretty bad and my lower right side of my back also. My husband was at work and I didn't want to yell for my older daughters to help me out since I was naked. My hip started out alittle sore, but last night it really started hurting. So I'm walking with crutches now.

I'm staying off of it as much as possible and only getting up when I have to use the restroom.

My husband thinks I pulled the hip muscle pretty bad.

If it's still hurting by Monday, I'm going to call my doctor.

Does anyone know how long it takes a pulled muscle, in the hip, to heal up?

UPDATE: I went to the ER tonight at 8p.m. because of the pain in my hip, lower right side of my back and my shoulder. Doctor told me I sprained the muscles pretty bad. So he said, no lifting with my left shoulder. No lifting, walking, bending, and exertion(sp) with my right hip and lower back until pain improves. Said it will take about 2 to 3 weeks before I heal up. So I have to keep using the crutches.

He gave me pain medicine and said I can use Tylernol 650mg up to 4x a day. Then wrote me a script for Lortab 500mg to take 1 or 2 pills for pain every 4 to 6 hours and to help me sleep. I didn't hardly sleep at all last night from the pain. They sent me home with 2 Lortabs since it was 9p.m. before I got home and the pharmacy was closed. But I can't take those tonight, they gave me Tylernol in the hospital at 8p.m.

They did listen for the baby's heartbeat, and it was beating at 162. I was so worried about the baby from my fall. Glad to know the baby is doing good.

I have never taken Lortab before, so does it make a person sleepy?

Owww. I think you need to stay off it as much as humanly possible. It should heal faster if you don't overdo it.

Ouch hun. Yes, stay off it. If you can, without working it to much, I would try to get to a massage therapist or chiropractor. Would be best if they could come to you. Please take it each and take care of yourself!

Thanks, my older kids are helping me out today while my husband is at work.

Trying to keep my right leg as still as possible, but my lower back on that side is killing me.

a pulled muscle can take a while to heal. Just depends on how well you heal, but I wouldn't expect to be healed by Monday! It'll probably take a week or two for you to feel almost 100%. :( Stay off it and alternate between heat and ice!

OUCH! I second taking it as easy as you can, and if it's still bothering you on Monday, I'd see a doctor ~ you may have done more than pull a muscle in your hip.

The bad thing is, since I'm still dehydrated and having to drink lots of water, I'm constiantly having to go potty and it takes me forever.

Here's the link to my doctor appointment on July 3rd, I posted it in the pregnancy section....

This is the same hip I ended up hurting when I was expecting my 4th baby. I stepped on a water meter lid at the park, and the lid wasn't screwed on and my right leg went down in the hole up to my thigh. I ended up with bruises and my hip was hurt.

But this time my hip hurts worse than that incendent(sp). It was almost like I did the splits in the shower, with my legs bent behind me. I noticed this morning my left muscle between my neck and shoulder is sore also. Must have been they way I tried to catch myself.

We have some sticky swans on the bottom of the tub, but they are worn down some. I think I need to buy new ones again.

Ouch! I'm sorry you're hurting. This may sound like a stupid question, but you're not by chance Rh-negative, are you?

To answer your Question about the Lortab... drugs affect everyone differently. It makes me loopy and sleepy. I would only take it at night before bed. Not durring the day untill you know how it will affect you.

You're welcome! Did you sign up for your Angel Food this month? We ordered the fresh fruit and veggie package, too, so we'll be feeding the grandkids well when they come to visit the end of July :)

We're not going to this month. Just going to go to Adli's.

Another update: The ER just called me. They said I have another UTI and they have a script for me to pick up there. So my husband went to go pick it up and get it filled.

I just had a UTI on June 18 and was on Augmentin 2x a day for a week. I have been drinking lots of water but I guess it's not helping much. I'm going to drink my Cranberry juice I bought, even though I can't stand the taste of it.

I'm still fighting off this yeast infection I got from taking the last antibiotics, now I have to be on more. Will this ever end???

I'm sorry hun I hope you get better soon! As for the Loratap it makes my mind race and I never get to sleep on those things. Other people I know they knock out so it's a 50/50 chance on what it will do to you.
