I was just wondering how much the baby is supposed to be eating on average in an 8 hour time frame? While she is with the sitter she has been eating around 6 oz, yesterday she ate 8oz. I know the sitter is feeling a little concerned because it is such a small amount, but we both also know breastfed babies are different than formula. My first dd was breastfed, but I never had to introduce the bottle to her because I stayed home. Is this really a small amount or pretty normal? I did notice yesterday morning when she woke up she hadn't pee'd in her diaper at all. She does nurse all evening and through the night so I wasn't super worried about dehydration, I just want to know that she is eating enough during the day. Oh, and I quit pumping in the evening time to so that I could make sure she would get enough. At home I only pump in the morning time after she eats.
(I do know the sitter tries to offer her the bottle a lot and she doesn't always take it.)

How old is your baby? My 5 month old takes about a 4oz bottle and then wants to still breast feed afterwards. If I give him a 5oz bottle then he is just fine.

She is 3 mos. (14 weeks) She just woke up and again, if she pee'd at all in her diaper last night it was a very small amount because I can't tell that she's pee'd. I need to talk to the sitter today and ask how many wet diapers she has during the day over there. She eats when she wakes up, but not for very long. She nursed for maybe 5 mins when she woke up, everyone says when they're hungry they'll eat I just want to know that I'm doing the right thing!

My baby at that age was eating 3oz bottles. He doesn't always get really wet diappers. There are days where he will pee like crazy and days where he will barely pee. I think that 6 to 8oz in an 8 hour time frame is good.

thank you! I'm not a person to worry, so I really don't like it when I do! That makes me feel much better to hear of another baby doing the same thing!

Likely she is getting more during the times you are nursing her and especially if she's nursing at night, I see no concern.

Keep an eye on her diaper count over the next few days.

If she's gaining well, likely things are OK.

When I was working, Tasha would eat very little at the sitter (about 6-8 oz) and then want to nurse non-stop when I got home.
