Opinions?

This happened 10.5 years ago, and the murderer is fighting his sentence of the death penalty.

The first article tells about the officer. (He was a young guy who had a 22-month-old, and his wife was pregnant.) The second article tells what is going on now. The third link is to the video of the man killing the deputy; you can't actually see the deputy being shot, but it's still very disturbing.

Oy. I do agree with harsher penalties for killing a police officer. I wish I could say I was against the death penalty, but I just don't think I am. :(

I'm usually against the death penalty, but I can't say that I'll be sad if this man is put to death. I didn't know the officer who was killed, but some of my family members did.

That is how I feel as well. The sounds of the deputy screaming in the video...

I remember watching World's Scariest Police Chases or some other crap like that, and they showed a video of a deputy pulling some guy over. The deputy walked up to the window of the car, talked for about 5 seconds and then was shot point blank 4 times in the chest.

I 'bout shit my knickers. Thankfully, the deputy was wearing a bullet proof vest (and I think they said he was shot with a 22) so he was able to get up, go to his car and radio for help.

I just can't find any sympathy for people like that. After seeing that, it really worries me to think of my neighbour and good friend (who's daughter is my daughter's best friend) who is a state trooper.

And I'm not going to watch that video. I'm sorry, but I just can't.

And by "crap like that" I mean Cops and stuff that I watch all the time. :D

I've seen that same video, Bean (I watch crap like that too). It's so scary.

If you are willing to fight or shoot a cop you'll do anything.

This deputy had already called for backup before the shots were fired. He was also wearing a bullet-proof vest, but when being shot with an M-1 Carbine, I guess that doesn't help much.

That just makes me unbelievably sad and unbelievably angry all at the same time.

I am 100% for the death penalty when an officer is murdered. I am disgusted with the lower court. They are not giving the poor widow the closure she needs and it is a huge waste of the courts time and money.

I can't watch the video either.

I'm so glad my dad's a detective now. He doesn't really get into dangerous situations anymore. Me and mom were always on him about wearing his vest. In cut and dry cases like this I am absolutely for the death penalty.
