TMI Question about DD (puberty)

My 12yo dd just asked "Mom, have you ever had clear, hawk a loogy type stuff come out of your private area because I just wiped and that's what happened?" I told her that it was normal and happens to me about 2 weeks before I start my period. I told her to pack some pads for our trip (we are going camping) just to be safe. She hasn't had a period yet. Is this normal for girls and is it a sign that she might be about to start her period soon?

Jmho, but it appears that it could be the beginning of her cycle, since that's what most women experience.

My DDs (and me) had discharge for almost a year before they started menstruating. It is totally normal.

Yeah, I remember having a discharge for a while before actually starting my period, but I'm guessing she'll be starting soon.

same here. it lasted for quite awhile before af came to visit!
