I was wondering if this is determental.
I breastfeed my baby and also pump.
when I pump with an electric I put the breast end to my breast, turn it on and gently squeeze the breast. This makes the milk come out so much faster. I count out 120 sucks with the pump (about 6 minutes) and at that point the milk has stopped coming out.
I used to get 2.0 oz but now only get .5 to 1.5 oz

Since I started making less with the pump I thought I would pump regularly and just feed her the same milk but from a bottle, thinking that I can increase the milk supply with the pump but i was not making enough milk for her and always ended up feeding her from my breast after she drank the expressed milk.

is the pumping detremental? I do not do it every day anymore because I am not getting much from it. should I be keeping it up and more steadly. I do it about every second day before bed now.

i would keep letting her nurse then pumping and do it as often as you can. i'm not sure about her nursing right after a bottle. my LO will do that but only cause he likes it better from the tap.
somebody else will have better advise! good luck!

A pump cannot empty your breast as effectively as a baby can. If you want to increase your supply, though I doubt you have any supply issues, then you should just put the baby to the breast more often. If you are truly concerned about supply, add some oatmeal to your diet as well.

Otherwise if you don't need to have milk for leaving the baby with someone or something, get rid of the pump! It is just making you question yourself and your body. Which I assure you is probably making the right amount of milk your baby is asking for.
