I have two questions:
1) My 3 year old is weighing in at 30 lbs, and is 37 1/2 inches. The weight limit on his Comfort Sport is 40 pounds, is there a height limit?
2) My friends son is 3, weighs 47 pounds and is 40 inches. The ped told her he'd "probably be alright" in a booster, yet he still fits in the five point harness. Should she keep him in the harness or move him to the booster with seat belt?
Thanks!

Hopefully one of the experts can chime in, but I believe the height limit for forward facing carseats is when the tops of the ears are level with the top of the seat.
Keeping him in the 5-point restraint for as long as he fits it is much safer than going to a BPB.

1. Yes, he is too tall for the comfort sport when his shoulders go over the top slots OR when the tips of his ears go over the shell of the seat.
2. It depends on the seat he is in - if it has a 40 pound harness weight limit, then he can no longer use the harness, however no 3 year old has any business in a booster. I recommend she get the Graco Nautilus.

Not an expert here either, but I believe I've read them say that there must be an inch of hardshell above your child's head.

That's for rear facing :)

I'm in the same boat as you. See my other thread titled Gypsy car seat help. I have the same seat as you do and I am also considering the Nautilis.

I just bought the Nautalis for my 4yo, 38 pound ds, since his old car seat went to 40 pounds and I am not ready for him to be in a booster. He loves it! Lots of cubbies to put his stuff in. BRU usually has coupons floating around you can use to buy one.
