This just hit me yesterday when I gave DD a couple tastes of some mooshy cheerios from my cereal (I use rice milk for my cereal btw). Now I know babies shouldn't have honey but what about those products that have honey in them? Would it be way over processed so the amount of honey she gets wouldn't be significant?

How old is she?

I'd be MUCH more concerned about the nuts to be honest...

She's 8mo...
I wonder if it really has some kind of nut in it or if its just a name.

I avoided that kind until DS was 2 yrs and even now he does not get them often. I worry more about the nuts than the honey.

I heard honey in processed foods like honey nut cheerios or honey grahm crackers are ok- I never thought about the "nut" part... DS has been eating them for a month or two with no problems-hes one.

I just had this conversation with a mom yesterday who asked her pediatrician about them. The pedi's take was the "honey" and the "nuts" were okay, but it's the extra sugar that the LOs really don't need.

Me too, as someone with an anaphylactic nut allergy. I avoided any nuts with all of my kids until they were at least 3.

Usually, if there is "nut" in the name, then there are nuts in the ingredients. :)

Ahhhh! I wish pediatricians would take allergenic foods more seriously! No, nuts are not okay for infants!

If you haven't noticed any kind of reaction I'm sure she'll be fine. I would just not give her anymore until she is older.

I was wondering about that too...

Honey, even in cooked foods is a bad idea for kiddos under one, for risk of botulism. But I agree with the others on the nuts for the baby, and perhaps even for you since you're nursing a baby.

I agree with Kerry & Gypsy about avoiding nuts until at least two.
