Hi! I just had a baby a week ago and breastfeeding has been going well overall. I have noticed over the past couple of days that she has a little blister (i think) on her top lip. Is that a sign that she is not latching properly? She latches really well and seems to be getting enough to eat.... any advice or information is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Sometimes they get their lip kind of sucked under when latched. just gently pull the lip out of the suction.

I think thats normal. both my breastfed kids got those. my 15 month old still gets them sometimes.

Both my babies had this and the doctor said it was completely normal and nothing to worry about what-so-ever. He called them nursing blisters and said that most babies get them. They will go away. I mean, your baby has been growing inside of you in a wet atmosphere and has not been using its lips for anything. Once born, they are using their lips constantly to nurse, so it makes sense that those tender brand new lips would probably have something happen to them. They will go away in a couple of weeks and you should never see them again. At least, this was our experience.

It's a nursing blister, and a sign that all is well! All newborns get them. I remember my dd's blistering and peeling several times in the early days.

My 7th month old gets nursing blisters still! It's common and they heal (or the top layer just falls off)!
