I have been telling everyone that I wont stop nursing in November because it is the sick season. EVERYONE agrees with me - go figure. So I am planning on weaning at 18 months. After that, I am not sure I am comfortable. I could change my mind, but I think that this is great since my original goal was 6 months. :)

Eighteen months is great!
I'm guessing at 18 months you'll see that 18 months and 5 days of age feels no different than 17 months and 30 days. Then 19 months, 20 months and so on. The numbers of a baby's age really mean nothing; all you see is your baby, one day older than yesterday. At some point, for me, it became less about the baby's age and more about what my baby's needs were. And for dd1, nursing was too important to her to take it away from her until she decided that she was done.
So, take it one day at a time, mama!

Good for you and your dd :).
I am an old cow now and if there is one thing that life and having kids has taught me is that you never know things are going to feel like at any specific point :). If anyone would have told me that I am going to nurse a 4 yo way back when I would have looked at them bewildered and slightly amused. But here I am ... in the closet to people I know are not supportive (my mom for instance) and setting limits (no nursing outside the house)...
Personally I do not discuss how long I am going to nurse my kids with family members unless I know that they are supportive even if I said "until he gets married and coz then it's his wife issue" LOL.

I set that same goal once and here I am nursing my 21 month old while pregnant. After saying I'd never want to tandem! Now I hope my DS makes it through so I can.... Ahh how we do change.
But if you stick to this plan, rest assured you have done your child a great service by nursing for 18 months and not stopping right before the sick season! Good for you Momma!

That is a great goal to have:) I just decided to say that I didn't have a quit date and that worked well for us. Mostly because I really wanted to reach two with my current nursling and she is 17 months old and almost ready to be done.
I think it's okay to say until baby decides to wean:)

I think 18 months of nursing is a wonderful gift to give your dd!
I didn't think I would be comfortable nursing past 1, and dd is still nursing at almost 27 months.
