DS is nearing 6 months and very interested in our cups/glasses. I'd like to offer a sippy every once in awhile just for learning...
Is it **OK** to put like an oz of water in it? pumping is difficult for me and id rather not use formula...
TIA.

Water is fine for learning. My DS has been getting a sippy of water since about 5 months but probably didn't drink any of it for a long time!

I have been putting water in it. my dd loves ice cold water. She used to spit it out and just recently, I noticed she has been drinking and ounce or even a little more. I think she might finally be ready for some ebm in her cup. It takes a while so definitely use water.

Water is the perfect first step for learning the sippy. I actually use one ice cube with just a little water and then I remove the rubber valve until baby gets the hang of it.
Yes, the shaking of the cube is as much fun as drinking;-) The cube provides a little water at a time, by melting.

I think that's a great idea. My little one used a sippy or the nuk sippy with a soft spout around 6 months, a month later she actually started drinking it ;)
Pumping is the same way for me.

Sure why not a little water will not hurt and it will get baby ready for water later in life since most mommys do not give much juice to drink and water is good for between meals doesn't fill them up like milk does.
