allergies and me!

my eyes have been driving me crazy the past two days! they are itching and watery and red. i have been taking allergy medicine the over the counter walmart stuff. but they aren't working.
please give me some advice! i need to know what is okay while breastfeeding! thanks!

If it's just your eyes I bet you could use most eye drops, but wait until someone who knows more can chime in.

BUT, if it is your nose too, definitely try a sinus rinse. It is the greatest thing ever! I use this thing almost every night.

that sounds good! yeah it's a little sinus too....sometimes the sinus is worse but right now my eyes are just taking over the situation. i will see if i can find that stuff here. if not i may order it.

I don't know of anything otc for eyes that really helps. Benadryl might. Patonal (rx) was amazing, but my allergist wouldn't let me take it while pg or bfing. Nasalcrom (otc nose spray) helps me a lot with itching in my nose and throat, but most of what I've used had to be prescription. Allergy shots were my saving grace.

i got some otc eye drops and so far hasn't worked. :( so i may just have to call the doctor and see if he can get me anything better. i asked the pharmisist if they were okay while breastfeeding cause i thought there are some things you have no idea why but you have to watch it. like lotions and stuff. and the pharmisist kind of laughed at me. that jackass!

they told me claritin was okay to take while BFing but I'd call the doc just to check...i have terrible allergies and get shots (which thankfully solve the problem so i don't take meds anymore). good luck, allergies suck!

if you can get shots will that stop with the eyes being a mess. cause last night they were stuck together....eww! and can you get those while nursing?

I got shots during my entire pregnancy and through nursing. I've just kept myself at a maintenance level so I'm not increasing at all and it's worked great. You do have to go through testing and all that fun stuff so if it's only a temporary problem its probably not worth it. If you are misearable often though I am a huge advocate of shots, they've been a miracle for me (plus i HATE allergy meds) and I've been off all meds for almost 2 years now.

it comes and goes but when i get them its awful!!!! my eyes hurt so so bad! i got rx drops today. only used them once still hasnt worked.

yeah i'm sure. it's the eye itself isn't red or anything just in the corner where it's watering. i hope this medicine helps! if i walk past the air conditioner or the fan it starts pouring.
