I know that this issue has been beaten to death but I am only bringing it up because it says the wife is breastfeeding via induced lacation.

I'm confused though. He labored for 40 hours before giving birth? I thought he was a man now. Wouldn't than mean a c-section? Why the 40 hours of labor? What would that be for?

From what I read he didn't get the whole sex change so he had a natural birth.

I'm happy for them and hope the circumstances surrounding this precious baby's conception, time in utero and birth are quickly forgotten by the general public and she can lead a *normal life.

*normal meaning the same type of life as any other child

Although he had surgeries, his uterus, etc. were left intact; hence labor and a vaginal birth.

I watched when he was on Oprah and they said that he got his breasts taken off, but didn't get his uterus other female parts removed, started taking testostrone. When he started taking that it made his clit grow so he has a small 'penis" that he is able to use so...

I read that there is a concern regarding the previous use of testosterone - it will be one of those wait and see situations since no one really knows what the exact affects will be.

Congrats to them, she is beautiful. Kudos for breastfeeding!! And with all the media attention, that is some nice advertisement for induced lactation. BRAVO!

According to what I read, he stopped taking testosterone treatments well before they had IVF done. IIRC, testosterone treatments have a maximum half life of about 3 weeks.

I thought the same thing! I was hoping there wold be some comments about it under the article, but alas, there was not.

I don't have the answer I just wanted to pipe in between transexual and transgender.
Gender has to do with sets of behaviors while transexual is the change of sexual organs and or genitalia. You can be transgender and have the genitalia of the other sex, transexuals have changed their equipment.
