Guy came to my door this morning selling them. I HATE that he came to my door but I did listen to his sales pitch and the books look really nice.

It is a set of three study guides that are basically reference books for parents who have forgotten much of what the children are learning in school (or they have changed the way things are taught) and students in elementary through highschool. The volumes cover all major school subjects.

Obviously you could just google and get the information but the books seems to make it very convenient and easy.

It comes w/ a CD-ROM set that has organizations tools for the student, interactive maps, basics of foreign language, sample questions for advanced placement tests, etc.....

They cost $299 and I didn't purchase them but I can imagine that they would get a lot of use in this house.

One thing that bugged me is that I told the guy I don't want to make a $300 purchase w/out consulting w/ my hubby. I asked for his phone number and he was very hesitant to provide it. He said, "we aren't allowed to do this..." but he did give it to me.

Wondering if anyone else has them.

Door to door sales people always skeeve me, because the never want to give you time to think about/discuss the purchase or leave any contact information of a brochure or anything.

I think it sounds like a handy idea, but I doubt it's a good idea worth $300.

I think it is handy, but not worth $300.

They books did seem really nice though.

My soon to be 4th grader had to learn the states and capitals and had a state project due at the end of 3rd grade. We spent so much time on line looking for a good, interactive site on line. I thought of that when I was looking at these books; they would given her more efficient study time. Also, she can't google very well yet so a lot of it was my time trying to get information w/out doing it all for her.

300 seems really high for a set of 3 books.

A friend of mine paid $2500 for a set of encyclopedias from a door-to-door guy. I wish she had more money, I'd sell her a bridge or something.

She can't get more than a couple hundred now if she tried to sell them. The internet has really made them obsolete.
