I recently found out that my blood pressure is high (142/90ish) and I go to see the doc on Monday to find out what he wants to do about it. My baby is 5 months old and I want to be able to nurse until he's a year. I was wondering if he suggests meds how this would affect the baby and nursing? Should I ask for something specific or just say no until after the baby is a year (it's not dangerous yet)?

Many women breastfeed while taking anti-hypertensive medications. A BP around the range of 140s/90s may be lowered through other means than medicines.
If your MD decides to medicate you for this, make sure he knows you are nursing a five month old exclusively. This way he can research to find a medication compatible with breastfeeding.
