I have been exclusivley breast feeding my DD for almost 7 months. Things have been great and I always had an abundant supply.
Over the past few days I have noticed a dip when I pump at work. I normally get 5-6 ounces at a time and I am lucky to get 3 1/2. My baby is also hungry all the time and eating at least every 2 hours.
I have spent 2 days nursing constantly and my baby is not a happy camper. She has never been a snacker and always enjoyed a nice full belly. The most frequent she has ever nursed was every 2.5 hours during a growth spurt.
She is not satisfied after eating and is hungry again 1.5 hours later.
What should I do?
I am drinking more than enough water, sleeping decently, eating well and not taking any meds. The only thing I can think of is maybe my period may be returning but nothing yet.
I was thinking of giving her 5oz of EBM in bottles tomorrow and pumping every 2 hours
Any advice would be great I am not ready to be all done I just love to nurse my DD
Thank you

I, too, was thinking that AF could be on it's way. Have you considered a mag-calcium supplement?

How many wet diapers a day have you been getting during this time?

Is there any possibility that you could be pregnant---sorry, I have to ask!

There is always the possibility that she is entering a growth spurt. I would probably bulk up on some oatmeal and continue to nurse her on demand, every 1.5 hrs, pumping for about 15 minutes following some of those feeds. Putting her to the breast is the most effective way to increase your supply, even more effective than exclusively pumping. If you feel strongly that she needs a small supplement following a feed, than keep it to a minimum, as the supply/demand balance will be off balance when you do that.

Thank You Cheryl,
She has plenty of wet diapers.
I hope I'm not pregnant!!!!!! I am on the mini pill. Hopefully it is just AF coming back.
I nursed her on demand for the past 2 days and she is un happy that she is not getting a full belly. She has never been a snacker but I will try.
Thank you sooo much for the advice. I tend to worry a bit too much.
Is instant oatmeal good enough?

If you have instant oatmeal on hand, give that a try.

I hope you're not pregnant, either, LOL, but I had to ask!

And you're welcome! You're not worried too much; sounds like you are very in-tune with your baby's needs.
