My six month old has started to choke sometimes at the beginning of a feeding and pop off at which time I spray everywhere. Can one develop overactive letdown this late?

I have never heard of developing OALD as late as 6 months into breastfeeding, but maybe it is because he started to build up your supply during a growth spurt and then leveled off leaving your supply abundant. Or maybe he built up your supply before he started eating solids and then started eating more solids, which then left you with more of a supply. Either way, it should even out again.

If it doesn't fix itself, then feed off of one breast for a feeding, or try one breast for two feedings in a row then go to the other for a feeding or two in a row and things should settle down.
