Okay, this is kind of a spin off because I posted this in my other thread. But I am just pissed beyond belief again. The trial has been delayed until November now. The death penalty is off the table unfortunately.
Has anyone else been following this? When I first heard about what had happened to this baby....I can't remember how long I cried. I couldn't stop thinking about what he had to go through. Oh Ben, if you had been MY baby.

I know how frustrating it is to want to see something like this get resolved, but it really is for the best to make sure everything is done according to procedure, etc. to minimize the chances for a mistrial or an appeal winning.

IMO, it is better for a slow and deliberate case than a fast and (potentially) sloppy one.

I agree completely. I am just venting because I'm frustrated, angry, sad, and ...
uugggh, I can't take what happened to that baby. If I think about it too long then I just break down. I just want to see justice.

I agree with steel.

I haven't read any of the articles because I'm afraid I will get too upset.

It will haunt you for weeks (months in my case).

I wish I hadn't read that. As I look down at my own 5-month-old little boy, sleeping in my lap. While I'm morally against the death penalty, it doesn't prevent me from wanting to kill those parents with my own bare hands. I would have to recuse myself from the jury if I were on it.

More than anything it just makes me SO incredibly sad for those people out there who so desperately want a child of their own, but cannot.

A 2-month old was killed in our area about a year or so ago. His autopsy revealed that he had 13 broken ribs in various stages of healing. The father admitted to squeezing the baby to make him stop crying so he could play his video games. The mother admitted to giving the baby sleeping pills too. God, these kinds of things keep me awake at night. When I heard about that baby--who only on this earth for 2 painful months--I couldn't stop hugging MY kids. The parents are still in jail awaiting trial.

Death is too good for them anyway, unless it was death by starvation. No, they should just live out the rest of their miserable existence in a tiny cell. I would prefer solitary confinement, but then they wouldn't be exposed to all the pleasures of being a "baby killer" in the general population on inmates.

I would like to see death by lethal injection.
That's how capital punishment is carried out in most of the US.

Illinois uses the electric too. I think it may be a secondary method though.

I thought Illinois has a moratorium (sp?) against the death penalty.

Maybe they do now. I know a few months ago the DA was contemplating seeking the death penalty for these 2. Now he is saying that it's not an option, basically because they are blaming each other and I guess their mental health is in question...blah blah blah. I don't think they are mentally impaired, but then again, I don't understand how someone could do what they did and actually be sane.

This sums up my feelings, more than anyone else can possibly know.

Screw that. I would have ZERO qualms in giving them the death penalty if I was on the jury. I would do it with glee. They are disgusting filth pigs who should rot in hell.

I would throw the switch myself if I could. Unfortunately, there is so much red tape with the death penalty, not to mention money. I don't understand why it costs more to execute someone than to let them live the rest of their lives in jail. I guess it's the appeals and paper work crap. Whatever, they would saving humanity by not letting these scum bags continue to breath out air.
