dear ones,
My ds#2 is nearly 11 months, he is a big eater with solids!! he see's his 2.5 year old brother eating and he joins in. My son won't breast feed during the day, he drinks water and apple juice/water but get's angry when I try to breast feed him. My ds#1 weened at 12 months I feel because day care gave him whole milk and I was also pregnant and our midwife said the breast milk changes in flavor.
should I pump? and bottle feed him the breast milk? he keeps me up all night nursing.... any suggestions... HELPPPPP I'm working from home and working on my masters too!!!

While I'm sorry to hear what you are going through - I'm glad I read your post. My 10 month old has been doing almost the same thing. He's eating some solids - a little oatmeal and fruit (3 tbs total) for breakfast, 2 tbs of fruit/vegie at lunch and 3-4 tbs of food at dinner time. He will nurse early in the am for about 10 minutes, and only sporadically during the day for 5 minutes tops - then, he wants to nurse non-stop at night. He did just cut his first tooth yesterday, so I'm hoping this pattern is temporary.
Today I put EBM in a sippy cup and offered it to him at breakfast, lunch and dinner (after he refused the breast). Hopefully, he'll sleep a little better tonight. I've decided that I'm okay (not happy, but made peace) with the idea of a day-time wean as long as he'll take a sippy cup. I've been a zombie the past few days and I still have an older one to keep up with.

I stopped BFing at about 2 months and switched to infant formula. I never knew that breast milk changes in flavor...interesting!
Wow, good luck on your masters, I think I'm starting that soon too!

my almost 11 month old is just so busy lately that she has been nursing less. how I have managed to avoid pumping is I stopped offering her a sippy cup when I am with her. now only grandma offers it to her and sometimes in the car she will have one while i am driving. other than that I offer her my breast for a drink. I offer her my breast first thing in the morning and then before and after each time I offer her food and any time she seems to be tired or fussy. I do not give her a cup anymore while she is in the high chair. I just offer her my breast before and after she eats food. sometimes she nurses and sometimes she doesn't. as long as she is getting plenty of wet diapers I know she is fine.

You might as well try to pump and offer your milk in a bottle or sippy. My goal is for DD2 to have my milk for at least two years. If she weans before then, I will continue pumping so I can give it to her in a sippy.

I would inquire at daycare how much cow's milk they are giving him. He only "needs" a cup or two, no more than 3, and often they give much more than that.
realize that often baby will reverse cycle if they are away from mom during the day. You could pump and offer in sipper cup, encourage nursing whenever you are together and see where that gets you.
