My son is almost three months old. Lately when i go to nurse him he feeds for like 5 minutes or so and then screams. He pulls off and cry's. Like it's not coming fast enough. My breasts don't feel full at all. I have to pump 3 times a day to keep up with what hes eating at grandmas when im at work. He takes the bottle fine with the breast milk in it. But i like to nurse him when im at home and out and about. I don't want to have to go to pumping all the time. And it seems like he cry's when he starts to fall asleep. But if I'm full he's fine. He doesn't cry at all. Please help!!

Try posting this on the general board. You'll get more responses. I wish I had some helpful advice!

My ds did this also about a month ago (he's 4 mos. old now). I think it was because it wasn't coming fast enough. I also had just gone back to work and he was getting bottles only occasionally (I only work weekends). He did fine in the mornings when I was really full, but got impatient when I didn't let down as quickly as he'd like during the rest of the day. I tried switch nursing and that seemed to help. After your initial let down or when he starts crying, switch breasts. After that breast has finished with its initial let down, switch again. This seemed to help during that period, and it helps increase your supply. He only did that for a few weeks. Hang in there, it will get better. It did for us!

momof4_amek...did you ever get any responses... I think I have sort of the same situation with my daughter...although she has been getting better at the breast.

This screams nipple preference. Be patient, and don't give in. Go to a nice quiet comfy place, and keep offering the boobie. Sooner or later you will letdown and baby will stop fussing. Don't get frustrated. When the baby cries, smile at him. Tell him its a boobie not a bottle and he will have to work harder (I know the baby won't understand, but somehow saying that to myself keeps me calm, which is very important if I want to let down)

I work and pump as well. We have had this happen multiple times over the past 3 months that I have been back to work. But now, I think she is more aware of what is around her, and is more than happy to cuddle with mommy for fresh milk from the tap. Although I do expect it to happen again.
