My 3.5 year old will be four in February and she does fairly well peeing in the potty. She still has accidents though. But i can not get her to go poop in the big potty for the life of me. She always asks for a diaper when she has to go poop. And she has pooped in her underwear before. Any ideas on how to get her to go poop in the big girl potty????

I knew someone who had to have their son squat on the potty (feet on the seat). She said would mount the potty and use it that way. If she is having an issue with wanting to stand up, it may help.

DS is 3.5 (4 in November) and refuses to poop on the potty. I haven't found a solution yet. He knows when he poops on the potty he gets a birthday cake (candles) and a green combine with John Deere hat and whatever else I've tried to bribe him with, but he says he's not "big" yet. He's happy to do tons of other "big boy" things, but when I ask if he want to poop on the potty he says, "no, I not big." I have no doubt he'll be big one of these days and until then I'll just keep putting a diaper on him when he asks for one.

Have you tried reserving a special toy or book just for when she wants to poop. When she asks for a diaper, you could offer her the toy or book only while she sits on the potty.

This is what my parents did. We sat on the potty looking at our favorite books until we went. I'm just curious, do you let your daughter in the bathroom when you are going poopie too? My son just turned 3 last month and is no stranger to what goes on in the bathroom. I would always tell him when mommy had to go poopie or pee. A lot of times he would come and visit me in the bathroom and I would tell him what I was doing. Maybe he became comfortable with it so that's why he doesn't mind going poopie on the potty. Getting him to pee on the potty is a different story.
