I get really ticked when I hear such ignorant statements, especially by doctors.

this is interesting, even though it doesn't break it down to exact ingredients,
"Breast milk, on the other hand, continually changes in composition so that your baby gets what he or she needs at any age."
"Breast milk contains more than 100 ingredients that the formula industry simply can't duplicate. For example, breast milk is full of antibodies that protect babies from illness and help them develop their own immune systems. Some other key differences between the ingredients in breast milk and formula include the following:"

Ask your sister to think about it.
why would her breasts all of a sudden at 6 months of age stop working?
also, many drs think that exclusively breastfeeding for 6 months, seems to mean wean at 6 months not that it means at 6 months you begin to give solid foods WITH the breastmilk, but as much for supplementation and experimentation rather than for nutrition.
why would the aap say to exclusively nurse for 6 months and then to continue as long after that as long as mom and baby want to?
you can check out sites for why to delay solids and some of them have links to continuing to breastfeed exclusively for 12 months or longer.
why would the recommendation be to give solids only AFTER breastmilk or formula when first starting solids at age 6 months if the breastmilk was not full of nutrition? that would be like saying to give a glass of water and then feed your baby solids. it would make no sense if breastmilk was devoid of nutrition at 6 months of age.

Well it depends on the date stamped on her breasts.
Sorry but it is ridiculous that a doctor would say such rubbish.

I want to specify that the AAP is the American Academy of Pediatrics and the WHO is the World Health Organization, so just google either one of those in regards to recommended ages for weaning.
