I never gave dd more than two tablespoons of solids at a time for breakfast or dinner. All of a sudden, she screams and throws her spoon if she hasnt gotten enough to eat. For dinner, she had half of a stage 3 jar of chicken dinner, apple sauce, and mushed carrot bites. For breakfast she typically eats a whole egg yolk, some bread or Cheereos, and some fruit or cottage cheese and fruit. She just loves food and I guess I should go with it. I do nurse her before most if not all meals. I stopped giving her water with her meals - maybe I should add that back in.

Last night I pureed steak, carrots, and potato in the food processor. She hated it, but will eat the jarred crap. I dont get it.

I think she is eating a little over 1/2c of food with dinner each night and about the same for breakfast. That seems like so much to me. I miss my baby nursling... Does this seem about right to you? Should I add in another meal? Just looking for ideas.

when it gets to be over about 1/4 cup, you could add in a second meal. I always did that, but that was the recommendation at the time, so who knows what current recommendations are. Be sure you are breastfeeding first before each meal for a while longer, then start to do most meals, then work down to some meals.

if you are giving fruits and veggies mostly they fill ya up space wise but don't have much calories, so it's important to get some calorie dense food in em like breastmilk, avocado, or steak ;)

You could try giving her breastmilk slushies (partially thawed breastmilk from the freezer if you have any to spare)--especially on a hot summer day.

I am not getting this from an expert or anything but what I do is I nurse before I offer solids and then let her eat as much solids as she wants to and then I offer to nurse again when she is done with the solids. we do this each time I offer her solids.

Is she dropping nursing sessions? If she's nursing about the same then I wouldn't worry about the amount of solids. But if she's reduced the nursing sessions, then I would cut back on the solids. You could offer breastmilk more often between the meals if that's an issue. Plus, it is fine to limit the amount of solids if you think she's not getting enough breastmilk.

She nurses as many times as before, maybe for a shorter duration. I tried nursing her after a meal and she wanted nothing to do with me.

For fat, is it ok to drizzle a little olive oil on dds veggies or stir into applesauce? - weight watchers has you do this to get in your daily fats. She seems to hate meat (unless it is that babyfood stuff that barely has meat) and the only fats she does get comes from egg yolks, 4% fat cottage cheese, and avocado (which I have none now).

she is getting fat from breastmilk too so I wouldn't worry about it. I dunno about olive oil. maybe someone else can help you with that.

I wouldn't worry about the fat. I think the stat is that a 2 year old gets all the fat they need simply by breastfeeding twice a day! My kids really ate no fats except for breastmilk until 2 or so.

I do drizzle olive oil into my LO's veggies as she is very slow to gain weight right now. You can also add a little butter if you'd prefer (haven't tried this myself yet). Unless you are dealing with a weight gain issue it's probably not necessary though.

I waited until my kids were 1 to do the olive oil, and I would wait on the butter until your baby is 1.

As PP said, unless she is having weight gain issues, I wouldn't worry about adding anything to her veggies. Your BM provides more than enough fat to your baby.
