I have gone back to work and have a supply of frozen EBM. First of all, how long is the EBM good for once it is thawed? Also, I know that you are not supposed to refreeze thawed milk, but what if it didn't thaw all the way?

Frozen EBM is good for 24hrs once thawed. I would encouage you to treat any partially thawed milk as thawed, period. (it's safest that way). I recommend freezing in small portions like 2-5oz so less waste occurs.

it is going well so far, but i am only working a couple of days a week. i am going to have to go to full time soon. i messed up though. i've made a lot of frozen EBM over 6 oz and i've had to waste a lot of it. i was hoping you'd tell me it lasts longer than 24 hours:hugegrin: how can it gp bad so quickly?

Oh, I had a feeling I was not giving you the answer you wanted. I have been in your shoes and I hated wasting precious milk, especially when my supply was down. It may be good longer, you can smell it to see if it is rancid after 24hrs but as a professional LC, I have to tell you what the literature says. SMILES!!!
