I am having a problem and I don't know how to correct it. I was due October 16 and my baby was born in July. I was 27 weeks pregnant. He is dong well as he is responding well to everything. I am worried because my milk is really not coming in like I see other mothers. I am barely just reaching 2 ounces of milk a day. Currently my baby is fed through a tube in his mouth and he is drinking 25cc.

I have been drinking Brewer's Yeast, Malta and Mother's milk tea and I don't see my milk increasing. I have a hospital grade breast pump which to me is not helping. I know it is not the pump, it's just me. How can I increase my supply of milk. Is my only resort is to take Reglan? Which I am willing to do but will my supply of milk decrease again once I stop taking Reglan?

I am so sad because I know that my son prefers my breast milk to formula, as told to me by his nurses. I want to be able to produce enough milk for him and to be able to continue to give him breast milk when he comes home from both my breast and the bottle. Is my low supply of milk because my son came early?

Help!!! :(

Congratulations on your little one. Yes, your supply is low due to a premie and probably due to stress as well. You may want to try fenugreek first. Lots of skin to skin in the NICU! nd rest when possible. The hospital grade pump is good but never as good as a nursing baby. Get the NICU RN's or LC to help you latch with an SNS when it is time.
It will get better!
