My boob hurst all the time and i dont know why.
Im nursing my 10 month old son.

I've been having this pain fat least 4 months +.

When i nurse i have a pinching pain on my nipple, but thats not the worst of it.
All day long i have this shooting stabing pain deep in my left breast. Its an intence shocking pain that comes real fast and stays for about 5+ seconds then slowly fades. Its not specifc to just one spot. some nights it keeps me up sobbing. The only way to get rid of the pain for a few hours it is to take tylenol (3 extra strenght). it sometimes help to stay laying down on my back, I also notice that if i dont ware a bra it doesnt hurt as much. Another wierd thing is that only my left nipple would stay hard for hours and be very painful, i started putting lanolyn on it and that has helped with the nipple stiffness.

the pain isnt there when i nurse but i notice that the times when my son pulls off and on alot is when its realy bad. thats a whole other problem, my little guy wants to be moving around the whole time he nurses. I have to nurse laying down so he will be still and even then he wants to be doing head stand and still be latched on, i try to break his latch but hes get stuck on there so strong that it hurts and im afraid he will get frustraighted and bite.

i was thinking it might be trush but we dont have any white patches.

if any one might have had this problem or might know whats going on

HELP!!!!!!!!!!! :bfing: aawwwwwuch

I'm thinking thrush. You don't have to have white patches or signs on baby to have thrush.

could be vasospasms as well.
http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/nipple-blanching.html

read the link from there to thrush and see if one of those seems like the problem.

I think your right. I searched about vasospasm and that sounds like that might be it.
i was also able to talk to a LC and she siad to try putting warmth on my breast, she said i could try a hair dryer.

I did try it right after i nursed my little guy and so far so good.
i realy hope thats all it was.
Its feels kinda strange to have no pain at all.

thank you

You poor thing! God Bless you for staying with it through that terrible pain. I hope you have it licked! As a nurse, let me just say though, please be careful not to take too much Tylenol. It's nasty stuff to your liver if you take more than the recommended dosage (or take it with alocohol, which I assume you're not doing.). Good luck, I hope you stay pain free!!
