Im sick

I woke up this morning with a killer sore throat, head ech, and a runny nose. As of now my throat feels better at the moment but i still have a runny nose and a bad head ech. Im just worried i might get ds sick through breast milk. I have noticed he has alittle bit of a runny nose! This is the first time ive been sick since ds was born and hes never been sick either.

I was concerned about this as well. If I remember correctly, your can't get sick through breastmilk. My doctor told me take Tylenol products to help me feel better, but to not worry and continue to nurse because it wasn't going to pass onto baby. Your baby could've gotten sick other ways, maybe by putting something his mouth that had the germs on it....anyway, I hope you feel better:(

You baby cannot catch *most* illnesses from your BM, but colds are easily passed via close promixity with your baby. By the time your symptoms appear, your baby has already been exposed to the virus.

The best thing you can do for the baby at this point is continue to nurse him. As your body fights off the infection, your antibodies will be passed to him through the milk and help him overcome the infection more quickly.
