Ds was about 2 1/2 when he could pedal a trike. Dd was around 2. I know she did it much earlier than ds though. She just had to follow in her brother's shadow.

DD just started mastering it a few weeks ago. She will be 3 on Sept. 2!

DS was 3 or a little over. He takes his time with everything.

DD was 18 months or younger, and DS was about the same I think.

DS is 2.5 and hasn't mastered it yet. I think he would be doing better if his legs were just another inch longer. He tries.

My ds is 3 1/2 and hasn't mastered it yet. He'll push his feet once and then say pedal pedal pedal and then sort of buck like he's trying to get his trike to go. I can't decide if carpet's too hard to pedal on or if he's lazy about it or if he just doesn't get it. I usually push him for a little while and try to show him how to do his feet. Then after a while he loses interest.

DS is 3 1/2 and still doesn't. He is starting to try now though whereas before he wouldn't even try.

about 5 is when he figured out how to complete the whole pedal (man that isn't easy when you break it down).
What I credit with helping tremendously is http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=10&e=smartcyclelanding
It motivated him (he loved the Diego game), I think, and allowed him to experiment with different physical ways to do things in a very controled (i.e. not moving) way.
DS has motor planning issues, so he needs a lot of time to acclimate himself. He is now on his second real bike and is doing great (with training wheels).

DD learned around 20 mos. She only mastered the pedaling while turning thing just before she turned 3.
OTOH, she just learned how to pump her legs on the swings, and she willl be 4 tomorrow. I am so relieved that she finally learned to do this. I can only push her for so long before my patience wears out. She would swing for hours and hours if I didn't suggest something else. Funny enough-- now that she can pump, she will only swing for 2-3 minutes, max.

DS was 2 for a tricycle. We bought him a bike at 3 since he was so good on the trike but he still struggles with the bike at 5. I don't remember how old DD was exactly but it was well before 2. DD is the type to study something and then just do it, with every single thing she tries. DS has to try and try again and will quit if he gets frustrated - which is why he still prefers the tricycle to the bike despite being too big for the tricycle.

Thanks everyone! I got Haley a tricycle at a yard sale this summer. I had to push her all over the Great Room. That didn't last long so I put it away for awhile. It tips over easily anyway.
My friend gave me a "big wheels" style one. It was only used a few times. I was thinking about giving it to her for Christmas (she will be 2 1/2) I didn't know if I should hold off longer, but from the sounds of it I will give it to her then.
I just can't handle the bending over pushing her around.... especially when my belly gets bigger!
Beana didn't learn until we got her the Smart Cycle video game last month, and she's 3.5. Before that, she'd just put her legs on the ground and move around that way.

When he was darned good and ready...lol.
In reality, it was about 2 1/2 and is now 4. Getting him to ride is like pulling teeth.

I don't remember how old Deven was when he started pedaling. Elise is the same age as Haley and still isn't doing it, but we really haven't tried yet.
There's a 2.5 year old across the street from me who is riding a 2 wheel bike without training wheels. It's the craziest thing to see.

dd can't reach her pedals yet :( She's mastered walking her bike any where she wants to go. We tried putting blocks on but then the blocks got stuck on the driveway. The part that she can reach she does then walks. Grow baby grow! (I'm to cheap to get another bike. If it's anything like her shoes she'll out grow a new bike in a week if I get her one)
